Its flexibility ensures that every wedding is as unique as the couple tying the knot.
Inspired by Nature: Locally Sourced Wedding Flowers
As a passionate wedding florist, I am deeply committed to using locally sourced, seasonal flowers to create designs that tell a story. For this shoot, I collaborated with South Milton Flower Farm, a dedicated local grower known for their high-quality, sustainably grown blooms. By choosing flowers that are grown nearby, I support British growers and reduce the carbon footprint of each wedding.
The cosmos flower, a key element in our floral palette, was a standout. Its delicate petals and soft movement added an ethereal touch to the arrangements. Cosmos is a versatile bloom, available in various shades, making it perfect for both soft, romantic designs and bold, contemporary arrangements.
Floral Designs to Enhance Every Moment
Floral design is more than just decoration—it sets the tone for your entire wedding day. From the largest hanging feature to the smallest table posy, each arrangement contributes to the atmosphere, creating a memorable and cohesive experience.
Hanging Installations:
For this shoot, I designed two signature hanging installations. The first was a floating canopy of soft-toned flowers and trailing foliage, evoking a sense of wonder and romance. This ethereal installation framed the bride, offering a soft and dreamy backdrop. The second was a bold “floral bomb”—a dramatic sphere of seasonal foliage suspended in the centre of the room, creating a striking focal point for the celebration.
Table Arrangements:
In contrast to the bold hanging pieces, our table arrangements embraced a minimalist approach. Using Kenzan (flower frogs), I carefully placed each stem with intention, allowing the flowers’ natural beauty to shine. The result was a collection of contemporary, light arrangements that encouraged conversation and added sophistication to the tablescape.
Versatile Floral Arrangements for Your Wedding Day
One of the key benefits of thoughtful floral design is versatility. I love creating arrangements that can be moved throughout the day. For example, meadow-style flowers placed along the ceremony aisle can be moved to the reception, framing the sweetheart table, cake display, or dance floor. Not only does this approach enhance the overall visual cohesion of your day, but it also offers a sustainable, cost-effective way to maximize your floral investment.
Bridal Fashion and Floral Harmony
A wedding is a celebration of love, and the perfect fusion of bridal fashion and floral design brings that vision to life. For this styled shoot, we partnered with The Ivory Lounge in Plymouth, known for their exquisite bridal gowns. The dresses featured in the shoot brought elegance, movement, and a touch of glamour, complementing the natural beauty of the flowers perfectly.
The stunning Lola Rose Hicklin, with her natural grace, brought the vision to life, embodying the perfect muse for this floral-infused bridal inspiration. The harmonious blend of bridal fashion and flowers created a timeless visual that offers couples ample inspiration for their own big day.
Bringing the Vision Together: The Creative Team
None of this would have been possible without the support of an incredible creative team:
- Photography: Laura Buffery’s keen eye for detail and emotive photography brought the shoot to life, capturing every nuance beautifully.
- Hair and Make-Up: Emma Carlisle and Stacey Louise’s hair and makeup styling created a whimsical, natural look that perfectly complemented the overall aesthetic of the shoot.
Working with such a talented team made this collaboration even more special, and I’m thrilled that it has now been featured in the highly regarded Wed Magazine.
